Operations over brochure features
Property software becomes useful when tenants, units, leases, maintenance, and collections connect cleanly — with visibility for landlords and staff. Listing websites alone do not solve operations.
EstateDesk, which Afri-Silicon helped shape, started from this insight: operators needed SaaS thinking for rent, maintenance, and reporting — not another listings page.
Core modules to scope
Units and inventory: buildings, units, occupancy status, lease terms. Tenant records: contacts, lease history, documents. Rent workflows: invoicing, M-Pesa/card collection, arrears tracking, receipts. Maintenance: ticket creation, assignment, status, cost tracking. Reporting: occupancy, collections, arrears aging, landlord statements.
Multi-landlord SaaS structure
Agencies managing multiple landlords need tenant isolation, per-landlord reporting, and role boundaries between agency staff and property owners. Design the data model for multi-tenancy early — retrofitting is expensive.
Mobile expectations
Tenants pay rent from phones. Caretakers log maintenance from the field. Landlords check collections between meetings. Each journey should work on a 4G connection with clear confirmation and history.
From listings to operations
The Super Agent focused on property discovery and brand credibility. EstateDesk extends into operations. Many property businesses need both — but they are different products with different data models. Scope them separately or phase listing first, operations second.
